Harrisburg, PA – Secretary of Health Karen Murphy today convened the second meeting of the ABC-MAP Board, which was created under Act 191 of 2014. The goal of this board is to help develop the policies and procedures that expand the state’s prescription drug monitoring program as outlined by the ABC-MAP initiative.
“We want to provide the best possible support to health professionals, law enforcement, and the residents of Pennsylvania,” said Secretary Murphy. “The implementation of ABC-MAP, with the guidance of the agency leaders serving on the ABC-MAP Board and the Wolf administration, will help us properly monitor the prescription of controlled substances in the commonwealth and save lives.”
At the meeting, the board reviewed operational best practices of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs across the country. Dr. Brandon Maughan and Dr. Marcus Bachhuber, members of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars program in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, presented the information
The board also heard a presentation by Joseph Minnick, the new project manager for ABC-MAP.
