James A. Jones Jr. Promoted to State Police Captain

Harrisburg, PA – Acting State Police Commissioner Robert Evanchick has promoted James A. Jones Jr. to the rank of captain and assigned him as the director of operations in the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

Captain Jones enlisted in the state police in 1989 and was assigned to Troop C, Mt. Jewett after graduating from the academy. He was promoted to corporal in 1994, sergeant in 2001, and lieutenant in 2013. As he progressed through the ranks, Captain Jones served in Troops F, C, P, and G; and most recently as the western section commander in the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement.

Captain Jones attended the United States Naval Academy, and his son is a senior at the United States Coast Guard Academy.
