James E. Hall Appointed Site Administrator at Erie Maritime Museum

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC) today announced the appointment of James E. Hall to the position of site administrator at the Erie Maritime Museum, beginning Monday, December 7.

“Mr. Hall brings a wealth of experience to his new position at the Erie Maritime Museum,” said Brenda Reigle, Director of PHMC’s Bureau of Historic Sites and Museums.  “I am particularly impressed that we were able to identify someone with both a cultural and natural history background, as well as an interest in maritime history, to head the museum.”

Before coming to the Erie Maritime Museum, Hall served as Cultural Conservation Program Manager/Park Superintendent at First State Heritage Park part of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). Located in Dover, DE, the First State Heritage Park is the state’s first urban "park without boundaries" linking historic and cultural sites in the city that has been the seat of state government since 1777. While at First State Heritage Park Hall supervised administrative and interpretive staff and collaborated with community partners to promote various programs. Hall was promoted to superintendent from the position of Cultural Conservation Program Manager/Chief, Cultural Resources.

Prior to that Hall served as Interpretive Manager at Delaware Seashore State Park, Rehoboth, DE, Interpretive Naturalist, outreach Coordinator at Three Rivers Park District, Plymouth, MN, and Senior Interpretive Naturalist and Education Coordinator at the Science Museum of Minnesota, Lee & Rose Warner Nature Center, Marine on St. Croix, MN.

Hall received a bachelor’s degree in History from Pennsylvania State University-Behrend College, Erie, PA and later received a full scholarship in the Environmental Institution Management Graduate Course at University of Delaware, Newark, DE. Hall also attended the National Association of State Park Directors “State Park Leadership School’ where he finished first in his class.
