Available for the First Time in Digital Format
Harrisburg, PA – Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortés today announced the availability of the recently updated guide for those seeking to register a new business in the commonwealth, now also offered in digital format for the first time.
“The Department of State has long provided the foundation for economic development in the state through the business registration services of the Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations,” said Secretary Cortés. “By revising our business guide and making it available online, we ensure that entrepreneurs can easily find the latest information needed to register a new enterprise. We are also keeping in line with Governor Wolf's GO-TIME initiative to modernize government operations in order to reduce costs and improve services.”
Last updated in 2011, the 36-page guide provides an up-to-date overview of the Bureau’s online services, informational tips, filing guidelines, customer service details, and useful contact information for other agencies and offices.
The Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations (BCCO) serves as the repository of more than 2.6 million records of companies registered to do business in the commonwealth. BCCO also serves as the centralized filing office for Uniform Commercial Code financing statements.
“BCCO shares fully in the department’s vision: to become the premier Department of State in the nation by providing the highest standards of accurate, courteous, and timely service,” said BCCO Director Frank Miranda. “BCCO will continue to encourage and support entrepreneurs as they build successful businesses.”
“Governor Wolf has sent a clear message that his administration will work to break down any barriers that may exist for entrepreneurs and businesses,” said Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin. “Reworking this resource to provide accurate information that is also more accessible is a great example of a government that works.”
