SCI Huntingdon Escapee Captured

Huntingdon, PA – Superintendent Kevin Kauffman reports that the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Huntingdon has apprehended an inmate who briefly walked away from the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon earlier today.
 
At approximately 12:45 p.m., while working on a carpentry project on prison grounds, John Adam Bertolette, age 26, walked off.
 
Prison officials immediately notified Pennsylvania State Police, the Office of Victim Advocate and sounded the prison’s escape whistle.
 
As of 1:20 p.m., the inmate was in the custody of the PSP Huntingdon.
 
Bertolette is serving a sentence of 10-to-20 years for causing catastrophe out of York County. He had been housed at SCI Huntingdon since September 6, 2012.
