SCI Albion Reports Inmate Death

Harrisburg, PAState Correctional Institution at Albion Superintendent Michael Clark reports the death of an inmate.

 
Corrections officers on the third shift found inmate Benjamin Roberts, 23, unconscious in his cell during a routine check at 10:13 PM on November 2, 2018.  The officers provided immediate emergency first aid until facility medical personnel arrived from the infirmary.
 
Inmate Roberts was pronounced dead at 11:35 PM by a doctor at UPMC Hamot Hospital.
 
Pennsylvania’s State Police Barracks at Girard and facility staff are conducting an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Erie County Coroner’s Office.
 
Roberts was serving a 1-to-8-year sentence for Corruption of Minors in Wyoming County, effective June 14, 2016. He has been at SCI Albion since February 27, 2018.
 
The inmate’s next of kin has been notified
