SCI Camp Hill Reports Inmate Death

Camp Hill, PA – Laurel Harry, superintendent of the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, reported today that Inmate Ulysses Edward Denman, 24, was found unresponsive in his cell on Saturday, November 20, 2021, during count. Prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until facility medical personnel arrived. Lower Allen EMS arrived and advanced life support measures were continued. Inmate Denman was pronounced dead at 6:05 a.m. 

Denman was serving a 15- to 30-year sentence for third degree murder out of Luzerne County. He had been at SCI Camp Hill since August 17, 2020.

In accordance with state policy, Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Cumberland County Coroner's Office. 

The deceased's next-of-kin has been notified.
