WHITE HAVEN, PA -- Lehigh Gorge State Park is currently undertaking a sizeable rehabilitation project extending from Middleburg Road south to Tannery Road and active construction is underway.
The work will provide a new entrance road, a year-round modern restroom facility, new boat launch areas for both private and commercial boaters and upgraded roadways and parking. The project will also convey improvements to the Lehigh Gorge Trail, part of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, including a connector to White Haven’s Main Street and business district.
Beginning Tuesday, September 7, 2021, this section of Lehigh Gorge State Park will be closed to the public Monday through Friday with trail access and limited parking in these areas open for Saturdays and Sundays.
Beginning Monday, September 27, 2021, the construction site will be closed to the public seven days a week until May 2022; tentatively.
All other day-use facilities at Lehigh Gorge State Park south of Tannery Road will remain open to the public during this period. Opportunities to enjoy the park include boating, hiking, biking, and fishing.
The public is advised to call the park for updated information on open areas, or to check the park’s web page.
