DCNR Names New Park Manager for Chapman State Park

03/31/2023

Harrisburg, PA -- Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn today announced the appointment of Cody Miller to manage Chapman State Park in Warren County.

“Cody’s diverse work experience in state parks and his spirit of servant-leadership will be a tremendous addition to Chapman and the surrounding community,” Dunn said. “We have faith in his ability to be a great steward of this park and look forward to seeing him continue to grow with this new challenge.”

Miller supervises the 862-acre park, which includes the 68-acre Chapman Lake on the West Branch of Tionesta Creek that accommodates hiking, biking, boating, camping and other recreational activities.

Chapman State Park is an oasis of recreational facilities in a vast area of wilderness, as it is adjacent to state game lands and the Allegheny National Forest.

“I am looking forward to growing relationships in the area, being a part of the community and improving visitor experiences,” Miller said. “I love it when I meet a park visitor and they say, ‘What else can I go explore?’ I am eager to continue to help people enjoy being outdoors and experience new things in this new role.”

Miller is a Weatherly, Pennsylvania native who graduated from Weatherly Area High School in 2009. He began working for DCNR in 2008 as a semi-skilled laborer while still in high school and has held several roles including as a maintenance repairman, maintenance supervisor and manager trainee.

Miller noted that he has gained all of his park resource management training on the job and plans to help park staff gain experience in similar ways through training and on-the-job experience.

As an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting, biking, boating and other outdoor activities, Miller said he enjoys sharing his love of the outdoors with others. When he isn’t working or spending time outdoors, he spends time with his wife, Maria, and dogs, Tyson and Macaroni.
