Middleburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will visit Shirk Farms on Monday to tour a streambank stabilization project under construction and discuss the importance of stream work and agricultural best management practices (BMPs) as part of the Snyder Countywide Action Plan to improve local water quality in Pennsylvania’s share of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
The Snyder County Conservation District is working with the farmers to install several agricultural BMPs using a variety of funding sources, including a DEP Growing Greener Grant.
Representatives from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, Snyder County Conservation District, and Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy will also be in attendance. Media are invited to attend and should RSVP if possible.
