MEDIA ADVISORY – DEP, Partners to Celebrate Stream Restoration Investments and Water Quality Improvements on Turtle Creek

04/24/2024

Williamsport, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and agency partners will host an informational briefing and walking tour of Turtle Creek, celebrating stream restoration investments and water quality improvements created through an innovative partnership.

Turtle Creek, in southeastern Union County, is a prime example of how sustained investments are restoring water habitats and recreation across Pennsylvania’s share of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Portions of the Turtle Creek watershed have recently been removed from the impaired waters list (delisted), demonstrating the results of agency partners’ work. In addition, the visit to a project site on a working farm offers an opportunity to highlight the Shapiro Administration’s investments in Pennsylvania’s agricultural conservation workforce, farm viability, and sustainability.

Media are invited to attend and should RSVP to DEP Northcentral Regional Communications Manager Megan Lehman, meglehman@pa.gov, 570.327.3659.
