SHOOTING RANGE PERMITS TO BE AVAILABLE AT ISSUING AGENTS

HARRISBURG, PA - Pennsylvania Game Commission shooting range permits for the 2019-20 license year will be able to be purchased at any license issuing agent, as well as online.

Previously, the permits were available online, with those buying permits printing them at home. Permits were only available for physical purchase at the Game Commission’s Harrisburg headquarters and the agency’s six region offices.

While range permits will be available anywhere hunting licenses are sold beginning July 1, those buying them online can continue to print them at home.

To buy your 2019-20 shooting range permit online, visit The Outdoor Shop through the Game Commission’s website beginning July 1.

Game Commission shooting ranges have been established on 29 state game lands throughout Pennsylvania. Those holding valid hunting or furtaker licenses may use Game Commission shooting ranges during posted hours of operation, and can bring along one unlicensed guest. Otherwise, those not holding valid hunting or furtaker licenses must have valid shooting range permits to use Game Commission firearms shooting ranges.

Range permits are not needed when using archery ranges on state game lands.

Range permits, like hunting licenses, are valid from July 1 to June 30 of the next year. The 2019-20 hunting license year begins July 1, and at that time all users of Game Commission firearms shooting ranges will 2019-20 licenses or permits.

Permits cost $31.90 each. Shooting range permit holders must be at least 16 years old.

Shooters using ranges must be in possession of their valid licenses or permits, and must follow all other range rules.
