Wolf Administration Assisting Erie Coke Plant Workers

L&I's Rapid Response Team schedules December 20 meeting for affected employees

Harrisburg, PA – The Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) has activated its Rapid Response Services (RRS) to help workers of the Erie Coke Plant.

All impacted workers are invited to meet a team of RRS specialists on Friday, December 20 at 10:00 AM at the UE 506 Union Hall (in Lawrence Park), 3923 Main Street, Erie. The meeting is open to Erie Coke Plant employees only.

RRS specialists and PA CareerLink® staff will provide important information on programs and services including: unemployment compensation, health and pension benefits, financial credit counseling, training programs, job search activities, education services, and social service programs, among others. Employees unable to attend the meeting should contact a PA CareerLink® .

RRS activities typically start when L&I learns of a closure or layoff by receiving a notice from the company or through the media, but can also be activated in response to job or business loss when a natural disaster occurs. As part of the rapid response efforts, affected employees are also referred to PA CareerLink® for post-layoff services.

Services are state and federally funded, and are provided at no additional charge to the employers and employees, regardless of the reason for the layoffs.

The department's Rapid Response Information Guide provides a thorough breakdown of the program as well as a list of services, resources, and regional contacts for easy referencing. To view the guide, visit Rapid Response Information Guide.
