Annville, PA - Maj. Gen. Anthony Carrelli, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general, along with senior command group leaders, joined 19 Pennsylvania Army National Guard members assigned to the 828th Finance Management Support Detachment, 28th Finance Management Support Unit, 213th Regional Support Group and participated in a ceremony in Lebanon today as they prepare for a deployment to Qatar as part of Operations Spartan Shield, Freedom Sentinel, and Inherent Resolve. These separate missions are designed to maintain a U.S. military presence in the Middle East.
“You have trained hard and extensively prepared for this deployment, and we are proud of your commitment to support these critical missions,” said Carrelli, who also heads the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). “We thank you and your families for your tremendous sacrifice to safeguard our freedom and liberty. We pledge our support to you and your families during this deployment and look forward to your safe return home next year.”
The unit, capable of performing mobile pay support missions to geographically dispersed operating bases, will provide banking and military pay support to U.S. forces throughout the region. The deployment is for one year, including a short time this fall at a stateside mobilization site where the soldiers will prepare for movement overseas.
Departure ceremonies are held to honor the courage needed both by those who serve, and the families, friends and employers who support them.
