Annville, PA - Mimi Thomas-Brooker, who works for the Pennsylvania Veteran Farming Project, was awarded the Pennsylvania Commendation Medal from Maj. Gen. Anthony Carrelli, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general and head of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). The medal was presented to Thomas-Brooker during Military, Veterans & Their Families Day at the 104th Pennsylvania Farm Show.
“Mimi is an incredible advocate for Pennsylvania veterans who want to build a career in agriculture,” said Carrelli. “Thanks to her commitment and vast connections to valuable resources, a number of veterans throughout the commonwealth have made the transition from the military to successful agricultural careers in the civilian world.”
According to the award citation, Thomas-Brooker “has distinguished herself by outstanding service to the commonwealth of Pennsylvania as the coordinator for the Pennsylvania Veteran Farming Project. Through her tireless efforts she connects veterans to resources within Pennsylvania’s agricultural community.”
The citation specifically notes that in her role, Thomas-Brooker passionately advocates on behalf of veterans and her work has led to significant strides in cross-system collaboration and enhanced resource awareness.
