Harrisburg, PA – The Wolf Administration today recognized Department of State supervisor Annique Joseph for the extra effort she made to protect staff from COVID while maintaining full mail delivery services to employees.
"Annique manages the flow of incoming and outgoing mail and makes sure all mail gets to the right personnel so they can respond quickly and better serve the public," Acting Secretary of State Veronica W. Degraffenreid said. "During the pandemic Annique and her mail room staff continued to work in the office, which meant developing new procedures for safely handling the mail, wearing PPE and taking other precautions, and being extra vigilant about keeping work areas clean."
The Department of State oversees elections in Pennsylvania, provides the initial infrastructure for economic development through corporate registration, registers charities that solicit in the state, licenses health-care and business professionals, and sanctions boxing, wrestling, mixed martial arts and kickboxing events.
"I take pride in helping to make things work behind the scenes at the Department of State. I'm proud of being able to push through all the obstacles we've had to deal with during the pandemic just to get the job done," Joseph said. "For me, there's nothing more fulfilling than being able to work for and help the people of Pennsylvania and give them a sense of assurance that we are here to serve them."
