SCI Muncy Reports Inmate Death

Muncy, PA – State Correctional Institution at Muncy Superintendent Wendy Nicholas reports the death of an inmate.
 
On June 3 at 10:30 AM, a corrections officer conducting security rounds found inmate Jamie Ridge unresponsive in her cell.  The officers, along with the doctor who was on the unit doing rounds, responded immediately and began CPR, which was continued until paramedics arrived. 
 
Ridge was then transported by ambulance to the hospital and admitted.
 
On June 4 at 2:32 AM, Ridge was pronounced dead by the attending physician at Geisinger Medical Center. 
 
The Pennsylvania State Police and the Montour County coroner will conduct an investigation.  The official cause of death will be determined by the county coroner’s office. 
 
Ridge, 35, was committed to the DOC by Allegheny County on March 21, 2018.  She was serving a 1-to-4-year sentence for Theft of Movable Property. 
 
Facility staff has notified the inmate’s next of kin.
