Bellefonte, PA – SCI Rockview Superintendent Mark Garman reported that inmate David Fry, 40, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 4:41 PM on February 3, 2019.
Prison staff immediately responded and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until relieved by ambulance personnel.
Fry was convicted of second-degree murder in Erie County in 1998 and was sentenced to life in prison. He arrived at SCI Rockview on January 24, 2019, from SCI Greene.
As is the case with all inmate deaths, the institution notified the Pennsylvania State Police and the county coroner, who, by policy, will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Centre County coroner.
The inmate’s next-of-kin has been notified.
