Bellefonte, PA – State Correctional Institution at Rockview Superintendent Mark Garman reported that inmate Logan Splain, 22, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 12:43 AM on March 8, 2019. Prison staff immediately responded and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until relieved by ambulance personnel.
Splain was pronounced dead at 1:32 AM by a doctor from Mount Nittany Medical Center (MNMC) through Pleasant Gap EMS. The local coroner and Pennsylvania State Police were notified. The official cause of death will be determined by the Centre County Coroner's Office.
Splain was serving a 1½-year to 5-year sentence for possession with intent to deliver out of Centre County. He had been at Rockview since February 14, 2019.
Facility staff has notified the inmate's next-of-kin.
