Coal Township, PA – SCI Coal Township Superintendent Thomas McGinley reported that inmate Basilio Davilia, age 51, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 9:15 PM on October 21, 2019.
Prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until facility medical personnel arrived.
Inmate Davilia was convicted in 2018 of persons not to possess, use, etc., firearms, in Philadelphia County and was sentenced to 2 years, 6 months – 5 years in prison. He had been at SCI Coal Township since March 2019.
As is the case with all inmate deaths, the institution notified the Pennsylvania State Police and the county coroner, who, by policy, will conduct an investigation. The Northumberland County Coroner will determine the official cause of death.
The inmate's next-of-kin has been notified.
