Waynesburg, PA – Superintendent Michael Zaken of the State Correctional Institution at Greene reported today that inmate Danny Joe Beck, Jr., 36, was found unresponsive in his cell on April 21, 2022, during staff rounds. Prison staff immediately responded and was pronounced dead at 3:10 a.m.
In accordance with state policy, Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Greene County Coroner's Office.
Beck was serving a 9- to 18-year sentence for theft of movable property out of Fayette County. He entered the Department of Corrections system on July 17, 2015, and had been at SCI Greene since 2016.
The deceased's next-of-kin has been notified.
