Marienville, PA – Randy Irwin, superintendent of the State Correctional Institution at Forest, reported today that inmate Nicholas Haluschak, Jr., 43, was found unresponsive in his cell on May 9, 2024. Prison staff immediately responded and provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived at the facility. Haluschak was pronounced deceased at 9:37 a.m.
Haluschak was serving a 3-to-6-year sentence for Burglary-Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present 18.3502.a2 – on a Fayette County conviction. He arrived at SCI Forest on June 20, 2023.
In accordance with state policy, Pennsylvania State Police were notified and will conduct an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Forest County Coroner's Office.
The deceased's next-of-kin has been notified.
