Department of Health Launches PA Project Firstline to Provide Easy, Accessible Infection Prevention and Control Knowledge to Frontline Healthcare Workers

03/03/2021

Harrisburg, PA - Harrisburg, PA – Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam today announced the launch of a new initiative from the Department of Health, called PA Project Firstline. PA Project Firstline, developed in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is an innovative project designed to promote foundational knowledge on infection prevention and control for all types of frontline healthcare workers.

“PA Project Firstline is an exciting new educational effort developed by our Healthcare-associated Infection Prevention team to provide healthcare workers with additional knowledge on infection prevention and control in a way that is easily accessible, immediately applicable to their work, and even fun,” Acting Secretary Beam said. “This initiative will reach healthcare workers in all healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, dialysis centers, and nursing homes, among others. We hope to get this information to all healthcare workers in all roles and all facility types to build upon Pennsylvania’s healthcare workforce expertise in infection control and prevention and help to keep the healthcare community safe from infectious disease threats.”

This week, the department launched a new text messaging program for frontline healthcare workers as part of PA Project Firstline. The program allows you to receive simple and direct messages with images and links to infection prevention and control information. To sign up for the text messaging program, healthcare workers can text JOIN to IPC4U (47248) to receive quick, concise and interactive infection prevention and control information.
