“Scammers often target members of the military due to their steady paycheck, often claiming a shared military background to gain trust. Because of frequent moves, sometimes on short notice, and being called away from home for months at a time, it also can be more difficult for service members to keep track of their finances,” Secretary of Banking and Securities Richard Vague said.

Individuals interested in attending any of the virtual events can register online. For more information about the conference, call 800-PA-BANKS (800-600-0007) or email informed@pa.gov.

“Making $ense of Finance” is made possible through the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance, a cooperative effort of the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the PA Department of Banking and Securities, the PA Office of Attorney General, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, Pennsylvania Military OneSource, Better Business Bureau of Western PA, Better Business Bureau of Eastern PA, Liberty USO, Army Community Service, PA National Guard, and Clarifi.
