Bellefonte, PA - State Correctional Institution at Benner Township Superintendent Robert Marsh reported that inmate Joseph Little, 39, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 12:37 PM on February 9, 2019.
Prison staff immediately responded and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until
relieved by ambulance personnel.
Inmate Little was transferred to Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, Pa.,
where he was pronounced dead at 1:45 PM. The local coroner and Pennsylvania State Police were notified. The official cause of death will be determined by the Centre County Coroner’s Office.
Little was serving a 2-year to 9-year sentence for Theft Movable Property out of Lycoming County. He had been at Benner Township since November 16, 2017.
Facility staff has notified the inmate’s next-of-kin.
